Spiridon (Spiro) Maglaras, former resident curator and art expert is the founder of Ars Longa Fine Art, a boutique firm specializing in advising institutional, private, and corporate clients navigating the intricate world of the secondary art market, offering enhanced advisory services on an international scale.
With a prominent career spanning almost two decades, Spiro considers himself profoundly grateful for the privilege of working with esteemed individuals and family offices worldwide, as he is honoured to have been trusted with the sale and acquisition of numerous notable masterpieces. From distinguished patrons and heads of state to royalty and old-school connoisseurs, these remarkable people have not only been a source of inspiration but they have also shaped his journey, affording him the opportunity to establish himself as an acknowledged figure in the secondary art market.
Having lived in six countries across three continents and traveled extensively, Spiro has cultivated a global network of privileged contacts. Notably, he has had the distinct honor of serving as a resident curator for seven private collections worldwide. In these roles, his negotiation skills and extensive network, combined with his deep understanding of the market, have played a pivotal role in enhancing the value of these collections for the principals involved. Most notably, his appointment by the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece as Fine Art Assets Executive of the Central Financial Bureau (EKYO), serving as the sole and exclusive representative of the Bureau in all art-related affairs, as well as senior advisor on cultural matters to His Beatitude Ieronymos II, Archbishop of Athens and head of the Orthodox Church of Greece, providing strategic guidance and expert oversight on the Church’s extensive holdings and historically significant art collections. Tenure concluded in March 2025.
